Ceremonialist - Psychotherapist - Researcher
About Ima Aura
My name is Ima Aura. I offer Integration Psychotherapy with a unique perspective shaped by my life experience and mixed African and European ancestry.
In my practice, I draw on attachment theory, somatic process work, and transpersonal psychology to create ways of working tailored to each individual's system within a culturally sensitive framework. With a background in the well-being industry and years of coordinating projects with the National Autistic Society, I am passionate about helping people find joy, resilience, and inner strength in a safe, flexible, and empathetic therapeutic environment.
Ceremony, Storytelling & Ancestral Connection
Beyond psychotherapy, I step into the role of ceremonialist, storyteller, and space-holder, bringing African spiritual wisdom and ancestral practices into contemporary spaces. My work is rooted in the belief that healing is relational, cultural, and deeply intertwined with the unseen forces that shape us. I facilitate rituals, guided meditations, and ancestral connection practices, creating spaces where people can remember, honour, and realign with themselves and their lineage.
Research & Cultural Advocacy
As a researcher, I explore the intersections of mental health, African-descendant well-being practices, and cultural reclamation. My work engages with themes of museum restitution, historical memory, and kinship in the African diaspora, as well as how institutions can better serve diverse ways of thinking, being, and healing.
Whether through therapy, ritual, or research, my work is an ongoing inquiry into how we heal, how we remember, and how we return to ourselves and each other.
